Day 2 of the expedition ends with 34 miles at Silver Springs Campsite just outside of Bemidji. Aaron said he will try to call tomorrow if he gets cell coverage. Aaron & Jake were hoping to average 30 miles a day for the trip, at this rate they will blow that average away. The first few weeks of this trip should be the slowest yet they have averaged close to 30 miles between the first two days.
Tomorrow has thunderstorms forcasted and they have several large lakes to navigate.

On July 22nd of 2010, Aaron Drendel and Jake Mullins completed an adventure of a lifetime. They paddled the entire length of the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca, MN to the Gulf of Mexico: 2,320 miles. Through much-appreciated donations we raised over $7,000 for the Susan G. Anyone who has been following this blog, been affected with cancer or who is just curious is welcome to attend the open house/celebration for Aaron and Jake's accomplishment at Glenwood Forest Preserve on the Fox River in Batavia. The open house will be from 1:00-5:00 p.m. with Aaron and Jake speaking from 4:00-5:00.

Both from Batavia, Illinois, Aaron Drendel and Jake Mullins are avid outdoorsmen.
Aaron graduated from Illinois State University in May 2009 with a degree in Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management. He has been a dedicated fisherman his whole life. Other hobbies include: mountain biking, canoeing, and basketball. Aaron spent two summers working as a commercial salmon fisherman in Alaska during college.
Jake graduated from Lewis University in December 2009 with a degree in Aircraft Maintenance. He is also a licensed pilot. As far as the outdoors, he does a little bit of everything. Backpacking, road-biking, mountain biking, kayaking and canoeing are the favorites of his hobbies. Boating on Lake Michigan has created a love of being on the water, making travel by canoe the best way to cross the US. At 22, now is the perfect time for a great adventure.
